Overview

Pistacio ($PISTACIO) is a Solana token launched on 25 August 2026 around an original character drawn by the artist Marcello (@Marcello_695). It moved from a fresh Pump.fun launch to more than $10 million market capitalisation within a few hours and reached an all-time high of approximately $17.9 million.

Origin

On 25 August 2026 Marcello posted a new character with the caption "His nickname on the street is Pistacio." Marcello is an established figure in crypto-native meme art and is associated with characters including Wassie and Pepo, so the drawing circulated widely on its own before any token existed.

The community tokenised the character shortly afterwards. The sequence matters: the artist created the character, the audience responded, and the token followed — the inverse of the more common pattern of deploying first and manufacturing a narrative afterwards.

The artist's involvement

Marcello did not deploy the token and it is not an official release. However, the community routed creator fees to him, and he publicly acknowledged receiving them:

"Okay, for the sake of transparency. Someone made a meme based on one of my drawings and gave me a fees. If the coin doesn't crash, I'll draw memes for them. Invest at your own risk. Thank you to the community that made this happen, and good luck."

The fee wallet tracked by observers is 7MfJwQQX9HBpye5SE5dSoY2Jb9J4jNiALDGgQxx2sYZ5. Early volume was large enough that on-chain fees accrued to tens of thousands of dollars within the first day. Marcello subsequently posted additional Pistacio artwork.

This produced a self-reinforcing loop: volume generates creator fees, fees reach the artist, the artist produces more art and lore, that draws attention, and attention drives further volume. The mechanism gives the artist an economic incentive to keep developing the character, though nothing obliges the cycle to continue.

Market activity

Total global fees paid reached roughly $926,000 against a supply of 976 million tokens. The token peaked at approximately $17.9 million market capitalisation before retracing, trading around $7.69 million with liquidity near $331,000 at the time of the chart below.

Why it matters

Pistacio is the clearest recent example of the creator-fee flywheel on Pump.fun: a token with no team, no roadmap, and no official endorsement, held together entirely by an artist who receives a share of trading fees and responds by producing more of the thing people bought into. It also illustrates the diligence question these launches raise — the character is genuinely Marcello's work, but the token is not his, and the distinction is easily lost once the chart is running.
