The post read "NVIDIA CAT FOR THE TRENCHES" and quoted a genuine NVIDIA tweet from 10 July 2015 featuring a kitten sitting in front of a graphics rig, giving the launch an authentic-looking archive reference.
Price action
The token reached an all-time high of approximately $648,000 in market capitalisation before retracing through a series of lower highs and settling in the tens of thousands.
Assessment
There is no wider lesson here beyond the mechanics of a straightforward account compromise. The @nvidia handle was hacked and used to push two tokens in quick succession, and both traded on the credibility of the account rather than on any product, team or mechanic.
