Overview

Meat Proxy Official ($MEAT) is a Solana meme token built on top of a piece of San Francisco AI-scene slang. The term started circulating on the AI side of X, where several people used it independently, and it spread the way in-group vocabulary usually does — without an owner and without a token attached.

A group then moved to "capture" the meme: they registered an official-looking website, set up a matching X account, and launched a token positioned as the canonical version of the term.

Why it ran

The play was branding rather than news. A term already had organic usage, so whoever attached the official account and site to it inherited the traffic of anyone searching for the phrase. Once a single contract address is the only obvious answer to "is there a coin for this", the token becomes the default destination for the attention the term generates.

That gave a fast vertical move on launch day, followed by the usual pattern for a captured-meme token: the initial buyers are early, the audience arriving later has nothing new to react to, and the price decays as the term itself stops trending.

Market history

The token printed an all-time high of approximately $1.05 million market capitalisation before rolling over. It traded down through the following sessions, with snapshot figures of roughly $89,900 market capitalisation, $32,500 liquidity, 972 million supply and about $231,000 in global fees paid.

Lesson

A meme that emerges organically inside a niche community has no owner, which means it can be claimed. Setting up the official account, site and contract address is enough to make one token the assumed representation of a term. The weakness is that the underlying slang was never a story with follow-through — once usage cools there is nothing left to sustain the price, which is why captured-vocabulary tokens tend to peak on day one.
