Overview
Martians ($MARTIANS) is a Solana meme token attached to @MartiansOfMars, a Mars-themed parody account on X. The token ran after Elon Musk replied to one of the account's posts, because the account was already carrying the contract address in its bio and on its website — so the reply pointed a very large audience directly at a tradeable token.

Why it pumped
The mechanism here is simple and worth understanding on its own.
1. A parody account builds a Mars/Musk-adjacent identity and posts edits in that style. 2. The contract address is placed in the bio and on the linked website, so there is no ambiguity about which token is "the" token. 3. Musk replies to one of the posts — in this case a Mars edit of himself, answered with "Pretty much". 4. Every person who follows that reply back to the account immediately finds a contract address.
There was no announcement, no endorsement and no involvement from Musk in the token itself. The value came entirely from attention being routed to an account that had pre-positioned a contract address where visitors would land.
Musk has engaged with Mars/Martian material before, which is part of why the account's positioning worked at all.

Market history
The token had traded quietly for roughly three weeks before the reply. On the Musk interaction it went vertical, printing an all-time high of approximately $5.42 million market capitalisation, then retraced to the $1.5 million area and recovered into the $2.4 million range.
Snapshot figures at the time of writing: approximately $2.44 million market capitalisation, $167,000 liquidity, 958 million supply and roughly $324,000 in global fees paid.

Lesson
Accounts that place a contract address in their bio and website are effectively pre-loading a monetisation path for any viral moment they might receive. When a very large account interacts with them, the pump is not a reaction to news — it is a reaction to distribution. Tokens of this type depend on the attention of a third party who has no obligation to continue providing it, and they typically give back most of the move once the reply stops circulating.
