Overview

Baton is a Solana token launched on 24 August 2026 that traders widely describe as a manipulated, or "crime", token. It originated from a post on X joking that Pump.fun is "a platform owned by Baton Corporation Ltd", and it rose to an all-time high of approximately $2.49 million after being attributed to a well-known caller.

Origin

The reference came from a post reading: "CashCat at 200m n we dont have a deriv yet. PumpFun is a platform owned by Baton Corporation Ltd." Baton Corporation Ltd is the registered corporate name associated with the Pump.fun platform, and the post framed a Baton token as the natural derivative of the CashCat market.

How the market developed

A previously unknown deployer account created the token. At approximately $20,000 in market capitalisation, several livestreamers stated that the caller known as Cupsey had called the token, and it was subsequently described as a Cupsey-cabal launch. Buying accelerated sharply after those statements circulated, and multiple large wallets entered the market.

Traders documented repeated deployer selling at specific points during the move. Those sales pushed less committed holders out of the position and allowed larger wallets to accumulate at lower prices before the later expansion.

The token reached an all-time high of approximately $2.49 million, with liquidity of roughly $60,000 against a one-billion supply at the point of the chart above.

The earlier Baton token

A separate Baton token, deployed at 9firESEtMrb4hqFxtb7xCAXp4jAuoW8mz5MZwjJ2pump, existed roughly a month earlier and used the same reference to the Pump.fun parent company name. That earlier market reached an all-time high of approximately $253,000 before fading into a lower range.

On Solana, an original deployment of a given reference is normally the market that attracts attention. In this case that convention did not hold at first: the later token traded substantially higher than the original, which traders cited as evidence that the move was coordinated rather than organic.

The original token did eventually respond. After the cabal launch drew attention back to the reference, the earlier 9fir... market broke out of the range it had held for a month, climbing from roughly $70,000 to an all-time high of approximately $368,000 and trading around $341,000 on liquidity of about $60,600.

The lesson

Baton is a useful reference case for identifying a cabal token. The recurring markers are:

  • The later token runs far beyond the original deployment of the same reference, while the original attracts almost no buying at all.
  • Holder lists show a large concentration of known key opinion leader wallets.
  • Early buyers split purchases across multiple wallets to conceal how concentrated the distribution actually is.
  • The market extends much further than the reference would ordinarily justify, because coordinated wallets keep pushing the price rather than taking profit into strength.

Taken together, those signals indicate that the move is being driven by an organised group rather than by open participation, and that the exit is likely to be equally coordinated.
