Overview
Sue ($SUE), traded as "cat wif helmet", is a meme token built around a real rescued kitten who became the official shop cat of a construction crew in Barberton, Ohio. It ran on Solana and, separately, on Binance Smart Chain, after the cat's photographs went viral across X, TikTok and mainstream news pages in late August 2026.

The actual cat
On 14 July 2026, supervisor Chase Guello at River Reach Construction heard a kitten crying from inside a Komatsu excavator on site. The crew checked the skid plate, a tiny kitten tumbled out, and they warmed her up and moved her into the office trailer.
The crew named her Komatsu, shortened to the nickname Sue ("Komat-SUE"). Komatsu later sent her a miniature yellow hard hat, and she was given a hi-vis vest. The images are a baby cat in full personal protective equipment on a job site. That is the entire meme.

Timeline of the cat
- 14 July 2026 — found inside the excavator.
- 21 July 2026 — named Komatsu, nicknamed Sue.
- 30 July 2026 — the hard hat and hi-vis photographs are posted.
- 24–26 August 2026 — the posts explode across X, driven by news accounts, general-interest pages and crypto timelines. One callout counted roughly 83,000 posts. Video of the rescue itself circulated separately and passed ten million views.

Why this contract
The Solana contract 2NffKvfZTcFj2tyoY1Ev84PkqxA7DZnstyv6EwELpump launched on Pump.fun around 25 days before the viral wave, well ahead of the attention. It sat as a near-dead construction-cat coin with almost no volume.
When the real photographs began flooding timelines, the original socials went quiet and the community took the token over. It then moved sharply: market capitalisation snapshots in the $600,000 to $1.5 million range, $3 million to $4 million in daily volume, and an all-time high of approximately $2.23 million.

The Binance Smart Chain run
The story was large enough that every chain launched its own ticker. On Binance Smart Chain, 0x2Ab8A4Dd2191989aC2898006Df350B236D2B7777 traded as "Sue — The Builder Cat" on PancakeSwap and reached roughly $2.87 million market capitalisation with about $4.3 million in volume and $193,000 of liquidity, briefly outpacing the Solana version.

Lesson
Three things carried this token.
First, the story was multi-platform viral rather than crypto-native. News pages, TikTok and X all carried the same wholesome images at once, so buyers arrived from outside the usual trading audience.
Second, a story going viral can revive a dead coin long after the underlying event. The rescue happened in July; the contract had been sitting idle for weeks. Traders looked for the oldest existing ticker rather than buying a fresh launch, and a community takeover did the rest.
Third, the name that ran was not the cat's real name. Komatsu did not move; "cat wif helmet" did, because it rhymes with dog wif hat, one of the original Solana meme coins. Familiar naming patterns are a distribution advantage on their own.
