Overview
AMC is a Robinhood Chain token paired with AMC Entertainment stock, launched on 7 September 2026. It reached an approximately $100M market capitalisation before retracing to roughly $40M.
Origin
The issuance was a direct response to public criticism of meme coins by the chief executive of AMC Entertainment. Traders framed the token as a rebuttal: rather than argue the point, they paired a meme coin directly with the company's own equity, so that the instrument being criticised tracked the critic's own share price.
Market Activity
The premise circulated rapidly and the token advanced to approximately $100M before giving back more than half of that valuation. Attention returned when Vlad Tenev, the chief executive of Robinhood, followed the token's account — an act read by holders as tacit acknowledgement of the pairing on the chain Robinhood itself supports.
The move also seeded a wider equity-pairing cluster on the chain, including GameStop, $GME and dividend-splitting entries such as $PARE.
Risk Considerations
A follow from a prominent executive is not an endorsement, and confrontational narratives built around a named company carry reputational and, potentially, legal exposure. Valuations that halve within a single session indicate thin two-way liquidity.
